John,
Deer, pronghorn, and elk need your help! Roads fragment the landscape across
which these species need to migrate. But you can help them more safely traverse
roads by supporting inclusion of wildlife crossings—overpasses and underpasses
across highways—in new transportation legislation! Do your part to protect
wildlife and motorists by making roads safer for all: Call on your Senators to
support wildlife crossings today.
Make sure wildlife can safely cross the road: Tell your senators to say YES to
wildlife crossing provisions in the Surface Transportation Bill.

TAKE ACTION

Wildlife need to move both daily and seasonally to survive. The United States is
home to some truly amazing wildlife migrations. Every year (twice a year), mule
deer migrate 150 miles each way from the desert to the mountains in Wyoming,
pronghorn migrate 150 miles each way between Wyoming’s Upper Green River Basin
and Grand Teton National Park, and elk migrate up the steep slopes of the
mountains around Yellowstone and the Tetons following the growth of fresh grass.
However, the habitats these animals rely on continue to be fragmented by roads
and other development. As a result, animals are struggling more and more to
reach food, water, shelter, and breeding sites. That’s why including wildlife crossing provisions in this year’s Surface
Transportation Bill is vital—and why you need to take action today.

Smart investment in wildlife crossings through the Surface Transportation Bill
can help reduce the hundreds of thousands of animal-vehicle collisions every
year and protect people and wildlife across the country.
The progress we’ve made together protecting wildlife is worth fighting for. Please take action for wildlife crossings today.
