Happy Saturday. ☕️

Welcome to another edition of FT Now! Since this will be the last update
until January 2020, we wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New
Year! Now, for some news... President Trump had some blistering words
for Nancy Pelosi on the eve of impeachment. South Dakota Gov. Kristi
Noem pointed out that despite what's going on in Washington, Americans
in the heartland would rather their representatives focus on issues that
matter. And in New York, illegal immigrants can now get driver's
licenses. Keep reading for more!

Trump Tells Pelosi in Blistering Letter That Dems Are "Declaring Open
War on American Democracy"

What Happened:

The day before the House voted to impeach him, President Trump sent a
"blistering, no-holds barred" six-page letter to the Speaker of the
House Nancy Pelosi.

Why You Should Care:

Though his letter did nothing to dissuade Pelosi or her Democratic
caucus, it did serve as a rallying cry for his supporters. "Everyone,
you included, knows what is really happening," Trump wrote. "Your chosen
candidate lose the election in 2016...and you and your party have never
recovered from this defeat."

What Happens Next:

The Senate will supposedly take up impeachment sometime in the near
future...

South Dakota Governor: Impeachment Is Not On The Minds Of Voters In The
Heartland

What Happened:

GOP Gov. Kristi Noem appeared on Fox & Friends and pointed out what a
lot of us already know: the American people want their representatives
in Washington to focus on real issues - not partisan impeachment
proceedings.

Why You Should Care:

Gov. Noem was on to something when she said "There's nothing there of
substance that people can look at and point to for why we should be
going through these proceedings...They really want to be talking about
things that affect their everyday lives."

What Happens Next:

GOP governors like Noem will continue to focus on really issues.

Illegal Immigrants Line Up Early For Newly Available NY Driver's
Licenses

What Happened:

Under Democrat Gov. Andrew Cuomo, New York just became the 13th state to
offer driver's licenses to illegal immigrants.

Why You Should Care:

While the law faced multiple lawsuits (none of them successful), many
are slamming it as public policy that rewards illegal behavior.

What Happens Next:

One estimate put the number of undocumented immigrants in New York who
will obtain driver's licenses at 265,000. New Jersey, under Democrat
Gov. Phil Murphy, also just enacted a similar law.
