For years, the anti-choice movement has tried to hide their radical agenda
with bills written to deceive voters through veiled language — insisting
that their attacks on reproductive freedom were all in the name of
protecting women.
But the minute Brett Kavanaugh joined the Supreme Court, that all changed.
States began passing bills to punish women and abortion providers with
decades-long jail sentences, life in prison, and even the death penalty —
that’s how deep “pro-life” hypocrisy runs. And the anti-choice politicians
behind the flood of bills banning abortion weren’t subtle — plenty of them
were explicit in their goal to reach the new conservative majority on the
Supreme Court in hopes of gutting or overturning Roe v. Wade.^1
These are the radical bans on abortion that could become law in 2020 if we
lose the protections of Roe v. Wade, if we fail to retake the Senate, or
if Donald Trump is reelected.

As these bills proliferated in state legislatures with anti-choice

with burdensome and expensive TRAP laws (like requiring abortion providers
to have admitting privileges at local hospitals, despite abortion’s status
as one of the safest medical procedures^ in the United States), the
anti-choice extremist fringe has gone on the offense to directly attack
people who seek and provide abortion, threatening them with brutal
punishments.^2
And it’s all because Donald Trump was able to nominate two anti-choice
justices to the Supreme Court — and Mitch McConnell tore Senate rules to
shreds to ram through their confirmations.
