Dear John,
Abortion rights were on the ballot this primary election. Since the leak of the Supreme Court opinion showing the Justices’ intention of overturning Roe v. Wade in 2022, the elections for state legislatures around the country have become more important than ever. The North Carolina General Assembly will determine abortion access and other human rights in North Carolina in the years to come. We're so glad that the voters in the primary overwhelmingly supported women who are champions of reproductive freedom making laws in North Carolina.
Lillian’s List is proud to have endorsed 42 incredible Targeted, Recommended, and Guardian Featured Candidates in the primary election!
We had twelve Targeted Featured Candidates running in competitive Primaries this election. We are thrilled to announce that eight won their election!
Laura Budd, House 103 - Mecklenburg County
Carla Catalán Day, House 74 - Forsyth County
Sen. Sarah Crawford, House 66 - Wake County
Lisa Grafstein, Senate 13 - Wake County
Frances Jackson, House 45 - Cumberland County
Valerie Jordan, Senate 3 - Warren, Martin, Bertie Counties, etc.
Renée Price, House 50 - Orange and Caswell Counties
Rep. Kandie Smith, Senate 5 - Pitt and Edgecombe Counties
We had two Guardian Featured candidates running in primaries this election. Our Guardian Featured Candidates are incumbent state legislators running in progressive districts. We are so excited that each of our Guardians won their primaries and will be the nominee to keep their seats in November. We are so lucky to have these women currently protecting abortion rights in the General Assembly!
Rep. Rosa Gill, House 33 - Wake County
Sen. Julie Mayfield, Senate 49 - Buncombe County

The Lillian’s List staff and Board are overjoyed that so many of our candidates won their elections! We are thankful for every one of our Featured Candidates and the strong, modern campaigns they ran. We are disappointed that Jamie DeMent Holcomb, Aminah Ghaffar, Dr. Kimberly Hardy, and Dr. Yolonda Holmes lost their elections, but we are so proud that they chose to run for office and commit to protecting reproductive rights. Political careers don’t end with one lost election and we know each of these women will continue fighting for their communities in the future.
The General Assembly is the last line of defense for abortion once Roe v. Wade is repealed. Our focus now, as it has always been, is the NC General Assembly, where the fight to keep abortion legal will be in North Carolina. By supporting Lillian’s List you can have the most direct impact on abortion rights in our state.
Will you make a donation to our PAC to save the state legislature today? [[link removed]]
100% of contributions to the PAC go to our Featured Candidates, who will now use the funds to power their campaigns for the critical general election.
Thank you for being a part of Team Lillian!
In solidarity,
Sarah Preston
Executive Director
