Dear Friend –
When news broke last week that the Supreme Court was poised to overturn Roe v Wade, I felt like the wind had been knocked out of me, but now, I’m more ready to fight than ever.
Protecting abortion access will now be up to the states, and McMaster has doubled down, promising to ban abortion without exceptions when Roe is overturned. We urgently need to take action now– SIGN MY PETITION DEMANDING THE SC GENERAL ASSEMBLY REFUSE TO BAN ABORTION [[link removed]] .

Forcing someone to give birth under any circumstance is wrong. And in South Carolina, a state where 1 in 5 children go to bed hungry, where Black women are dying from pregnancy-related causes at a rate three times that of white women, where we have virtually no sex education, and where our teen pregnancy rates are through the roof, banning abortions will be a death sentence for countless SC women.
If McMaster really wanted to reduce abortions, he would use his power as Governor to invest in sex education, strengthen our public schools, and actually invest in mothers, children, and families.
The reality of what an abortion ban in South Carolina would mean is frightening. I’m doing everything I can to win my election for Governor and safeguard reproductive healthcare, but we can’t wait until November to take action. Roe will be overturned in a matter of weeks, and we need to be ready. Sign my petition now. [[link removed]]
In solidarity,
Mia
