Here’s the beauty of my job, the reason why I do what I do and why I love it so much: I get to be with friends every day, and I get to talk to and meet with new ones, too.
But working in politics, we tend to become so absorbed with the job and the environment that surrounds us that we forget everyone else is fighting their own battles, too.
If you’re reading this, I’m sure you have likely also received about a dozen or so messages in the past couple of hours from other Democratic groups about how “The end of the month is here, and we really need your help!”
It probably feels like a lot.
Couple that with the fact that the stock market is not doing well, and prices have definitely gone up. All of these factors have made the already really tough job of fundraising that much harder.
Democrats across the board are keenly aware that we have not won all of the battles we’ve fought in the past couple of months. And naturally, many folks are saying “Why on Earth should I donate to you right now? You need to do more and figure out a way to get these bills passed before you’ll see another dime of my hard-earned money.”
Believe me when I say, I get why people feel that way, I really do.
But if you really want to see progress in Washington, sitting on the sidelines and refusing to contribute to the fight would be the worst mistake you could make right now.
Just hear me out for a minute: The reality is that President Biden’s agenda is very difficult to pass right now because we are facing monumental pressure from the other side.
President Biden’s agenda will better the lives of hundreds of millions of Americans, virtually all of us.
But it also requires some very powerful people to start paying their fair share, something they wish to avoid at all costs. And they’ll do and say anything – including manipulating Republican and swing voters with lies and scare tactics to vote against their own best interests – to stop it.
Remember the momentum we had leading up to the midterms in 2018 that allowed us to take control of the House and impeach Trump for the first time?
The Republicans have that same momentum now, thanks to billions and billions of dollars pouring in from rich corporate fat-cats and special interest groups.
It’s up to you and me to stop them.
Look, this battle is worth fighting. With support from folks like you, we can and will expand our Senate majority and get President Biden’s agenda passed.
It is up to us to do it, and we have a plan. I truly believe our candidates, their message, and their sincerity will win the day.
After all, folks in rural and urban America alike miss those $300 dollar checks they were receiving for each of their children. All Americans are horrified when their roads and bridges crumble beneath them (thankfully, as I am writing this, there were no fatalities in Pittsburgh). Parents in aging neighborhoods all over the country worry about lead and other contaminants in their children’s drinking water.
As a country, we know it's time to invest in ourselves. When folks look at the challenges we face as a nation and the policies each side proposes overcome them, they quickly realize the Democrats have a better vision and plan to move America forward.
All we need to do is reach a bigger coalition of voters with that vision and present it in a way they can understand and embrace. No Dem Left Behind has the know-how and the tools to make it happen …
… all we need is the funding to execute our plan.

The end of the month is difficult because that’s when the bulk of our non-negotiable monthly expenses are due. Whatever is left after that is all the cash we have on hand to start planning for the next month.
The more cash we have on hand at the end of the month, the higher we can set our sights for the next – it’s the difference between being able to schedule an ad buy or not, or being able to recruit new grassroots organizers or not.
