Hi, I’m Lucas Kunce. 

I’m a 13-year Marine veteran and economic justice advocate running to flip Missouri’s U.S. Senate seat, and I’m proud to have the endorsement of No Dem Left Behind.

Before I take a moment to re-introduce myself and tell you a little about why I got into this race, please let me explain why this week was a huge milestone for our campaign.

This week, I officially filed the paperwork to put my name on the ballot this November for Missouri’s open U.S. Senate seat.

As a kid from a working-class neighborhood in Jefferson City, my family struggled to make ends meet. Maxed-out credit cards. Living paycheck-to-paycheck. And when my little sister was born with a heart condition, we went bankrupt. But we weren’t alone. Friends and neighbors came together to support us. They helped me go to college and after that, I joined the Marines to honor everything they gave to me. 

Between tours in Iraq and Afghanistan, one of the hardest things was coming home and seeing what was happening in my old neighborhood. A community picked for parts — the corner store where my mom floated a check boarded up, my first family house bulldozed to the ground.

While my buddies and I risked our lives building up towns like Habbaniyah, Fallujah, and Herat, career politicians and the corporate elites backing them let our country waste away. Even now, after spending 20 years and $6.4 trillion on “peacekeeping,” defense contractors, and nation building abroad, they can’t figure out how to invest a fraction of that amount back into America. 

After decades of corrupt politicians profiting off their power and stripping our communities for parts, I’m running for U.S. Senate because it’s time everyday Americans — people who know how to take care of each other — called the shots in this country.

Together, we can stop spending trillions on Wall Street, corporate welfare, and nation-building overseas, and create a Marshall Plan for the Midwest to rebuild our forgotten towns and cities here at home. We can fix our roads. And we can invest in the next generation of energy jobs here at home.

And when I’m in the U.S. Senate, I’ll work to end the filibuster and secure voting rights. I’ll stand up to Big-Brother style attacks on abortion access and work to legalize weed. And finally, I’ll hold our leaders accountable to the people by working to abolish corporate PACs and ban insider trading for members of Congress.

This is our chance to finally take Missouri’s Senate seat back for the people. That’s why I’m in this race, and it’s why I’m asking for your support to make it happen.
