[[link removed]]Hello,
I ran for Congress in 2018 to fight for the great people of Kansas. And I ended
up making history.
Today, I am one of *two* Native American women to ever serve in the House of
Representatives — and one of only a handful of openly LGBTQ members of Congress.
This significance isn’t lost on me, especially as our country comes together
this November to honor Native American Heritage Month. I wouldn’t be here
without the contributions of all the incredible native people who shaped our
nation as we know it today.
Representation matters, my friend. And, since we’re just a
year out from next year’s election, I wanted to reach out to make sure you’re
registered to vote.
Please take a few seconds and check your voter registration status.

We need leaders nationwide who will fight for all of us … and represent more of us, too.
I am humbled to serve the people in my district, and I am honored every day to
walk the halls of the Capitol as a woman, a member of Ho-Chunk Nation and as a
part of the LGBTQ community.
But we have so much more work to do to make Washington look more like the rest
of the country — and that only happens if each and every one of us gets out to
vote.
As we look ahead to 2020, please take a moment to check your voter registration
status. [[link removed]]
The right to vote was fought for by so many. We must honor that fight and commit
ourselves to doing it.
Let’s get to work.
