Hello,
I ran for Congress in 2018 to fight for the great people of Kansas. And I ended up making history.
Today, I am one of *two* Native American women to ever serve in the House of Representatives — and one of only a handful of openly LGBTQ members of Congress.
This significance isn’t lost on me, especially as our country comes together this November to honor Native American Heritage Month. I wouldn’t be here without the contributions of all the incredible native people who shaped our nation as we know it today.
Representation matters, my friend. And, since we’re just a year out from next year’s election, I wanted to reach out to make sure you’re registered to vote.
Please take a few seconds and check your voter registration status.
We need leaders nationwide who will fight for all of us … and represent more of us, too.
I am humbled to serve the people in my district, and I am honored every day to walk the halls of the Capitol as a woman, a member of Ho-Chunk Nation and as a part of the LGBTQ community.
But we have so much more work to do to make Washington look more like the rest of the country — and that only happens if each and every one of us gets out to vote.
As we look ahead to 2020, please take a moment to check your voter registration status.
The right to vote was fought for by so many. We must honor that fight and commit ourselves to doing it.
Let’s get to work.
