Happy Saturday. âï¸
Welcome to another edition of FT Now! New details are out this week
about Democrat Jim Hood using his official position as Attorney General
- and taxpayer dollars - to investigate his Republican opponent in the
Mississippi gubernatorial race. In Louisiana, John Bel Edwards was hit
with another ad exposing his liberal agenda. And word on the street is
Hillary Clinton is definitely not saying no to running for president
again in 2020. Scary. Ready below for more!
Records: Hood's Office Spent Nearly 300 Hours Investigating Political
Opponent
What Happened:
Remember when we told you a few weeks ago about how Democrat
gubernatorial candidate Jim Hood used an investigation he personally
oversaw as Mississippi Attorney General to go after his political
opponent? This week we found out that investigation took up 300 hours of
official AG office time and "likely cost taxpayers at least $15,000."
Why You Should Care:
Hood's investigation ramped up just as he and Republican opponent Tate
Reeves were gearing up for a general election face-off. Coincidence?
What's more, it certainly looks like Hood used his official position
as Attorney General - not to mention taxpayer dollars - to benefit his
campaign.
What Happens Next:
Voters go to the polls in Mississippi on November 5!

New Ad Hits John Bel Edwards in Louisiana Runoff
What Happened:
A new ad in Louisiana hits Democrat Gov. John Bel Edwards for opposing
President Trump on issues like sanctuary cities and accepting campaign
support from left-wing activists pushing for open borders and amnesty.
Why You Should Care:
At the end of the day, Louisianans overwhelmingly support President
Trump's agenda. And while Gov. Edwards tries to position himself as a
moderate, he's made it clear he's not only too liberal - he's
out-of-step with the voters of his state.
What Happens Next:
Will Gov. Edwards be honest about his anti-Trump agenda before voters go
to the poll on November 16? Only time will tell...

Hillary Clinton 2020?
What Happened:
Apparently, Democratic Party insiders are getting nervous about their
party's prospects in 2020. Can you blame them?
Why You Should Care:
All the hand-wringing has led many to bring up an all-too-familiar name:
Hillary Clinton. A longtime adviser, in fact, stoked the Clinton 2020
flames by saying this week she has "would think about it long and hard"
if she thought she could beat Trump.
What Happens Next:
As the current field scrambles to stay relevant (or just get above 3
percent in the polls), all eyes will stay trained on Clinton world.
