Republicans in the Texas legislature are passing dangerous and deadly bills, and Governor Greg Abbott is signing them into law without thinking through the consequences.

One of those new state laws allows most Texans to carry handguns in public without a permit or any training.

Abbott applauded the so-called “constitutional carry” bill as he signed it into law, stating, “I signed documents that instilled freedom in the Lone Star state.”

Texas law enforcement officers fear this new law will increase crime rates while putting officers and residents in danger.

Texas gun rights advocates are celebrating the new law.

After Abbott signed the bill, the executive director of the right-wing Texas Gun Rights group said, “Texas is finally a pro-gun state despite years of foot-dragging, roadblocks, and excuses from the spineless political class.”
