Team,
Republicans in the Texas legislature are passing dangerous and deadly bills, and Governor Greg Abbott is signing them into law without thinking through the consequences.
One of those new state laws allows most Texans to carry handguns in public without a permit or any training.
Abbott applauded the so-called “constitutional carry” bill as he signed it into law, stating, “I signed documents that instilled freedom in the Lone Star state.”
But here’s the deadly part of this dangerous move by the Republican-controlled legislature and governor.
Texas law enforcement officers fear this new law will increase crime rates while putting officers and residents in danger.
Team, this is why David is working across the aisle to pass common sense federal gun safety measures protecting law enforcement officers and the public while reducing crime.
Can you pitch in right now with a donation to help David keep working in Congress to find common ground on gun safety?

Texas gun rights advocates are celebrating the new law.
After Abbott signed the bill, the executive director of the right-wing Texas Gun Rights group said, “Texas is finally a pro-gun state despite years of foot-dragging, roadblocks, and excuses from the spineless political class.”
David knows this won’t be easy, team, but it needs doing. As states across the nation look to Texas’ extreme legislation for inspiration, Congress and the U.S. Senate must step up and pass commonsense federal gun safety measures.
