Did you hear what one Republican congressman said about the Capitol insurrection, John?

Georgia Representative Andrew Clyde recently said the events of January 6 looked like a "normal tourist visit" and claimed calling it an insurrection was a "boldfaced lie." Now tell us -- do the photos from January 6 look like a normal tourist visit to you?

We didn't think so.

A normal tourist visit doesn't involve members of Congress barricading themselves in rooms. It doesn't involve destruction of property and assaults on Capitol police. And it doesn't result in the deaths of five people.

Make no mistake: the events of January 6 were a violent attack on our democracy, incited by members of the Republican party. The only way we can ensure it never happens again is if we all do our part to protect our democracy.
