A normal tourist visit doesn't involve members of Congress barricading themselves in rooms. It doesn't involve destruction of property and assaults on Capitol police. And it doesn't result in the deaths of five people.
Make no mistake: the events of January 6 were a violent attack on our democracy, incited by members of the Republican party. The only way we can ensure it never happens again is if we all do our part to protect our democracy.
