Welcome to another edition of FT Now! Montana Democrat Mike Cooney made
clear once and for all this week that his vision for an economic
comeback includes big government and more bureaucracy. No thanks. On
Friday, a group of Republican governors signed a letter urging the
Senate to confirm Judge Amy Coney Barrett to the Supreme Court. And with
just over three weeks left until Election Day, Joe Biden is telling
voters they have to wait until after ballots are cast before he'll
tell them where he stands on court packing. Shameful. Read below for
more!
Mike Cooney's "Jobs Plan" Is "New Regulations and Government Offices"
What Happened:
Montana Democrat gubernatorial candidate Mike Cooney finally released an
economic recovery plan and, well, it's one only a career politician
would love. His big idea includes even more regulations and bigger
government. Yes, really.
Why You Should Care:
During the COVID-19 pandemic, more than 100,000 Montanans have filed for
unemployment. Cooney's prescription is more government and
bureaucracy, which is the exact opposite of his state needs.
What Happens Next:
Cooney will try and sell his big-government agenda to Montana voters
before now and Election Day.

Republican Governors Urge Swift Confirmation of Judge Amy Coney Barrett
To The Supreme Court
What Happened:
On Friday, 24 Republican governors signed a letter urging the Senate to
approve President Trump's nominee to the Supreme Court.
**"As elected leaders of our states," reads the letter, "we support a
judicial philosophy like Judge Barrett's that respects the roles of
coequal branches of government and protects powers reserved to the
states."**
Why You Should Care:
The battle over the seat vacated by the late Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg
is going to intensify over the coming weeks as Congressional Democrats
attempt to block her confirmation. Governors speaking out in support of
Barrett include Greg Abbott of Texas, Doug Ducey of Arizona, Ron
DeSantis of Florida, Kristi Noem of South Dakota, and more.
What Happens Next:
Confirmation hearings are scheduled to begin on October 12.

Biden: You'll Know My Opinion On Court Packing When The Election Is
Over"
What Happened:
While liberal activists have been pushing for court packing ever since
President Trump and Senate Republicans vowed to confirm a new justice to
the Supreme Court, the Biden-Harris campaign has repeatedly dodged the
issue. That is, until Thursday when the presidential nominee finally
admitted he's just not going to be honest with voters until after
Election Day.
Why You Should Care:
Packing the court is a radical proposition, and Americans deserve to
know if he agrees with members of his own party.
What Happens Next:
Hopefully, the media does its job and presses Biden to give an answer.
