Big news, friend!
The PA State House has passed its first-ever bill to put common-sense guardrails on massive AI data centers!
Now it’s sitting in the State Senate – along with 12 other pro-environment, pro-consumer bills.
And while they stall, utilities and Big Tech are moving forward, racing to build and setting the stage to pass the costs onto us. That means higher electricity bills, more strain on our grid, and communities left without a real say.
It’s beyond infuriating to see one chamber — under the control of anti-environment leaders — blocking progress that would lower our electricity bills, reduce harmful pollution, and get more low-cost clean energy onto the grid.
But it’s also an opportunity to act.
The State House bill passed with bipartisan support – which means we just need to raise the pressure on a few Republican state senators to get this passed.
Will you chip in $35.00 — or whatever you can — to help us turn up the pressure on the State Senate and get these protections across the finish line? [link removed]
I hate to say it, but AI isn’t going away. Data centers are coming.
The real question is whether Pennsylvania families will pay the price.
Right now, without strong rules in place:
* Utilities can raise your rates to cover the cost of powering these data centers — even if you never use AI,
* Massive development projects can move forward without residents buy in and before communities are prepared, and
* Developers will significantly increase demand on an already aging and stressed energy grid.
We’re fighting to change that.
CVPA, along with our allies and activists, is working to put guardrails in place as quickly as possible including common-sense reforms that:
* Block utilities from shifting costs onto ratepayers while they make record profits
* Require data centers to bring their own renewable energy to the grid instead of increasing demand on an already stressed system
* Give local communities the tools to decide what gets built and where.
These are real, practical first steps.
But passing them requires growing and sustained pressure — especially in the State Senate, where progress stalls.
And this fight is moving fast.
In communities like mine in the Lehigh Valley, massive data centers are already being proposed just steps from schools and neighborhoods.
Developers aren’t waiting. Utilities aren’t waiting. And we can’t afford to either.
Make a contribution today to help us protect Pennsylvania families, defend our communities, and make sure Big Tech pays its fair share.

Pennsylvania has powered this country for hundreds of years.
And we know what happens when industries move faster than the protections meant to regulate them.
This time, we have a chance to get it right.
Thank you for standing strong in this fight,

P.S. Data centers are spreading like wildfire across Pennsylvania. Without action, hardworking families could get stuck paying higher energy bills while tech bros and billionaires get even richer and while our environment suffers. Help fund this fight to put protections in place before it’s too late. [[link removed]]
