Hi there,
I’m as worried about data centers as you are.
What scares me the most is that there are no real rules to protect us.
Nothing to stop data centers’ energy use from driving up our electricity bills. Nothing to make sure there’s enough energy to keep our homes warm. Nothing to require that they be powered by clean energy instead of fossil fuels.
Whether we like it or not, AI — and the data centers behind it — isn’t going away. But once our land is lost, our water is poisoned, and massive infrastructure is built, we’ll never be able to turn back the clock.
That’s why passing real protections for our communities is one of my top priorities. And I have some good news.
This week, the State House will be voting on a bill that would finally put guardrails in place on data centers.
But here’s the challenge: our state legislature is divided. Democrats control the State House and Republicans control the State Senate. If this bill doesn’t get a lot of support in the House, there’s almost no chance it will pass the State Senate.
Please, I need your help. No matter what party your lawmaker belongs to, please contact your representative to urge them to vote for the Data Center Bill this week! [[link removed]]
AI data centers use enormous amounts of electricity — sometimes as much power as millions of homes.
And right now, our grid isn’t ready for that demand.
Monopoly utility companies are already using this moment to overcharge consumers to pay for the energy that data centers need – and give massive bonuses to their executives.
Data centers and utilities are going to keep calling the shots based on their bottom lines, unless commonsense rules get put in place.
That’s why we’re pushing for reforms which would:
✔ Protect families and small businesses from paying for connecting AI data centers to the grid
✔ Require that large data centers be powered by a significant amount of new, in-state clean energy sources
✔ Create requirements that will help prevent data centers from causing blackouts
This is how we can start to protect families and communities before it’s too late.
I’m optimistic we can get this passed if enough lawmakers hear from their constituents right now.
Every representative needs to hear that their constituents refuse to pay for data centers and demand guardrails. Please contact your state representative now.

Together, we can ensure that data centers don’t jack up our power bills or create worse pollution problems that harm our communities.
Thanks for weighing in.
