Hi there,
I’m as worried about data centers as you are.
What scares me the most is that there are no real rules to protect us.
Nothing to stop data centers’ energy use from driving up our electricity bills. Nothing to make sure there’s enough energy to keep our homes warm. Nothing to require that they be powered by clean energy instead of fossil fuels.
Whether we like it or not, AI — and the data centers behind it — isn’t going away. But once our land is lost, our water is poisoned, and massive infrastructure is built, we’ll never be able to turn back the clock.
That’s why passing real protections for our communities is one of my top priorities. And I have some good news.
This week, the State House will be voting on a bill that would finally put guardrails in place on data centers.
But here’s the challenge: our state legislature is divided. Democrats control the State House and Republicans control the State Senate. If this bill doesn’t get a lot of support in the House, there’s almost no chance it will pass the State Senate.
Please, I need your help. No matter what party your lawmaker belongs to, please contact your representative to urge them to vote for the Data Center Bill this week!
