Dear John,
What makes Maine special? It’s the stretch of conserved forest you can wander for miles, the working farm that stays in production instead of becoming a subdivision, the lake you can still reach because public access was protected. These places didn’t survive by accident. They exist because Mainers chose—again and again—to invest in conserving the lands and waters that make our state special.
For decades, Land for Maine’s Future (LMF)—the state’s most successful and celebrated land conservation program—has helped turn that shared value into real protection on the ground. Yet today, the LMF program is running low on funds, with no long-term funding plan in place.
This month, we’ll discuss why LMF is so vital to Maine and why securing sustainable, long-term funding is essential to the health of our economy, our communities, and our environment.

Friday, February 13, 12-1 PM: Land for Maine's Future | Protecting What Makes Maine Special
We'll be joined by three fantastic colleagues from the Environmental Priorities Coalition: Eliza Townsend, Maine Conservation Policy Director for the Appalachian Mountain Club; Francesca "Ches" Gundrum, Director of Advocacy for Maine Audubon; and Luke Frankel, Woods, Waters, & Wildlife Program Director and Staff Scientist at the Natural Resources Council of Maine. Each brings a distinct perspective on the importance of land conservation in Maine.
