Let’s be real: This has been a difficult week.

We’re just over one year into Trump’s second presidency. It’s been a year of chaos and lawlessness.

But we have now reached a new, heartbreaking low as a country. Last Saturday, an American citizen – Alex Pretti – was shot in cold blood by ICE agents in Minnesota as he was helping a woman those agents had pushed over. Even worse, it was the second American shot and killed by ICE in just two weeks.

I join so many of you in our despair over this senseless loss of life. And I know we are all scared to see even the most fundamental right in this country — the freedom to gather peacefully and speak out against injustice — dissolving in front of our eyes.

One thing is clear: our nation is at a breaking point. Americans are being killed by government law enforcement in our streets. Trump is terrorizing innocent families and ripping communities apart. And that’s all while Congress and Trump’s hand-picked Department of Justice refuse to uphold the law and hold his lawless Administration accountable.

At times like these, it would be so easy to feel hopeless. But hope and political action are the things Donald Trump can’t take away from us.

There is one actionable thing we can do to rein in Trump’s abuses of power: win back the House majority.

We can claw back the progress we’ve lost. And we take the first step toward ending Trump’s lawlessness once and for all. But we can’t do that if we don’t win.

I represent the toughest seat in Colorado held by a Democrat. So I need your support to secure this seat. Then we can work together to help other Democrats win seats in Colorado and across the country.
