** National Parks need your voice Supporter
------------------------------------------------------------
At the end of last year the UK Government released their latest nature bombshell, the Nuclear Regulatory Review 25, a report aimed at speeding up the delivery of nuclear electricity infrastructure.
Along with several other alarming proposals that would weaken environmental protections, there is a recommendation to either remove or limit the new Protected Landscapes Duty. This Duty is the only real power National Parks have to secure action for nature and something we campaigned for for 30 years.
Implementing the recommendations from this report would sweep aside protections that make legally protected sites and landscapes safe havens for wildlife, making it even easier and cheaper for developers to destroy our last few natural spaces.
We’ve joined together with the Wildlife Trust and other key environmental charities to send a clear message to Ed Miliband - No more nature damaging policy.

** Getting the facts straight
------------------------------------------------------------
The independent Taskforce that wrote the Nuclear Regulatory Review has provided no evidence to support its claim about how the Protected Landscapes Duty might affect nuclear development, now where the idea came from that the Duty is causing delays or other problems.
The report even refers to the Duty incorrectly, suggesting the Taskforce have put very little time and effort in to properly understanding this important new Duty and its implications.

This new Duty has only been in place since late 2023 and this latest attempt to get rid of it comes only weeks after we were last forced to rush to its defence following reports that the Government planned to use an amendment to the Planning and Infrastructure Bill to remove it.
We were successful in protecting it then and with your help we will be successful in protecting it now.
We’re working hard to protect the Duty and have submitted a Freedom of Information request for the evidence used to justify the removal of the Duty in the Nuclear Regulatory Review. Will you help us by writing to Ed Miliband today?
