The end of last year saw the release of a nature bombshell, the Nuclear Regulatory Review 25, a report to government aimed at speeding up the delivery of nuclear technology and infrastructure.
Along with several other alarming proposals that would weaken environmental protections, there is a recommendation to either remove or limit the new Protected Landscapes Duty. This Duty is the only real power National Parks have to secure action for nature and something we campaigned for for 30 years.
Implementing the recommendations from this report would sweep aside protections that make legally protected sites and landscapes safe havens for wildlife, making it even easier and cheaper for developers to destroy our last few natural spaces.
But there's still time to make a difference - as the Government are still deciding whether the accept the Review's recommendations.
Weβve joined together with the Wildlife Trust and other key environmental charities to send a clear message to Ed Miliband - No more nature damaging policy.
