all I want for Christmas is affordable health care
Every year, Republicans come out with some “concepts” of a health care plan, and it’s always a little bit different and still just as bad. Much like those generic country pop songs that all mention cold beer ([link removed]) , a big truck, and a dirt road, we’re having a hard time telling them all apart.
This year, the brand-new, exciting, innovative, revolutionary GOP health care plan included… you guessed it, cutting the Affordable Care Act!
This past week, Democrats in the Senate introduced a bill that would extend the ACA tax credits that were slashed earlier this year. Meanwhile, Republicans introduced a bill to create new health savings plans — although they wouldn’t come close ([link removed]) to covering the premiums set to skyrocket. It’s kind of like choosing between a home-cooked meal and actual dog food for dinner tonight.
Our new polling ([link removed]) finds that the Democratic proposal is popular with voters — 69% of voters want the ACA tax credits expanded. This includes 89% of Democrats, 68% of Independents, and 52% of Republicans.

Whether you’re trying to figure out why Republicans keep introducing these worthless, half-baked health care plans or trying to figure out WTF a “jingle horse ([link removed]) ” is, we’ll all be in a state of constant confusion this December.

it’s beginning to look a lot like a coverup!
Wild that out of the over 150 million Americans that are constitutionally eligible to become president, y’all just had to pick one of the people that are on the Epstein flight logs.
Despite claiming for months that the Epstein files were a “hoax ([link removed]) ,” Trump signed a bill last month to require the Justice Department to release its Epstein files. However, the bill doesn’t require ([link removed]) the release of documents that pertain to active federal investigations, and Trump opened a new investigation just a week before signing the bill. Weird!
The bill also doesn’t apply to documents held by the Treasury Department. A new bill, the Produce Epstein Treasury Records Act ([link removed]) , would require these documents to be released, which detail information about Epstein’s financial networks.
An overwhelming majority of voters (80%) — including 79% of Independents and 73% of Republicans — support ([link removed]) "requiring the Trump administration to release all of the Treasury Department's financial records related to Jeffrey Epstein.”

Can we do a quick show of hands of folks who have never flown on a private plane or been invited to a private island? Now let’s pick any one of you at random, and we guarantee we’d have a better president than the one we have now.

silenced night
Whether it’s your uncle at Christmas dinner, the teenagers filming TikToks in your movie theater, or J.K. Rowling, there are times in our lives when we all wish we could just get someone to shut up.
But when you’re the president of the United States, it turns out that there are limits to shutting down speech you don’t like — like, you know, that pesky little thing called the First Amendment.
In September, Trump published a memo called the National Security Presidential Memorandum 7 ([link removed]) (NSPM-7), which lays the groundwork for the federal government to investigate and prosecute individuals and groups who do not align with Trump’s ideologies or rhetoric by equating them with “domestic terrorism and organized political violence.”
A majority of voters think ([link removed]) that Trump will attempt to restrict speech on several types of speech, including criticism of him and his administration as being “fascists” (59%), support for DEI efforts (55%), support for nontraditional views on gender and sexuality (53%), support for overthrowing the U.S. government (53%), criticism of the U.S. government (52%), and support for socialism (52%). A much smaller percentage of voters, however, actually want Trump to restrict this speech.
And we find that 60% of voters say they are concerned about the NSPM-7 memo, including 84% of Democrats and 70% of Independents. Notably, voters who are LGBTQ+, Black, Latino, or identify with a religion other than Christianity or no religion at all are more concerned than voters overall.

We don’t know how Republicans got the impression that they are the party of edgy comedians and truth-tellers when they can’t handle the slightest criticism and feel the need to silence opposition. Trump is truly the biggest snowflake that we’ll be seeing this winter.
