Friend,

2025 has been an incredibly difficult year for millions of people across
the globe. Through one emergency after another, families have been
fighting to survive and thrive — and Mercy Corps has been right there
fighting alongside them.

From responding to Hurricane Melissa to the devastating earthquakes in
Myanmar and Afghanistan, our teams have worked tirelessly to meet
families’ immediate needs and support them in recovery.

The Caribbean

In October, a Category 5 hurricane tore through multiple island nations in
the Caribbean, including Jamaica, Haiti, and the Dominican Republic. Flash
floods, landslides, and powerful winds have left behind widespread
destruction — damaging homes, roads, power systems, and communication
networks.

6,000 people have been displaced in Jamaica, while over 12,000 people are
sheltering in emergency sites in Haiti.

Mercy Corps’ emergency response has focused on multiple aspects of this
catastrophe — from establishing long-running emergency preparedness
programs to delivering emergency relief and supporting communities’
long-term recovery. We work with trusted local organizations that have
deep roots in communities and local expertise to scale impact safely and
effectively.

In Haiti, we’re providing water, sanitation, and hygiene services,
distributing chlorine tablets and hygiene kits, and supporting families
through emergency supplies and cash assistance.

Along with Hurricane Melissa, we’ve responded to multiple emergencies
throughout 2025 thanks to the support of donors like you, including:

Myanmar, where a 7.7 magnitude earthquake rocked the country and
tipped hundreds of thousands of families into a humanitarian crisis.
With your support, we were able to help communities access shelter,
food, medicine, and other essentials.

Sudan, when famine was declared and 24.6 million people are facing
high levels of food insecurity. Your support enabled us to provide
critical aid to the countless families and distribute cash assistance
so they can afford what they need to survive.

Democratic Republic of Congo, where an Ebola outbreak struck as 7
million people were displaced by conflict, and 26 million were in need
of urgent assistance. Our teams improved water access, hygiene, and
sanitation services, and supported livelihoods.

As we head into the new year, your support will fuel our emergency
response efforts in 35+ countries around the globe.

We’re grateful to have supporters like you as part of our
global community, pushing our mission forward with your generous support.
