Just last week Reform spent nearly £1 million on double-page adverts in most
major newspapers - reaching several million readers - just to try and distract
the country from the Nathan Gill Russian bribe and Nigel Farage racism
allegation scandals.

This kind of money-fuelled media takeover is directly out of the Donald Trump
playbook - and we know where that leads. We cannot allow it to happen here.
But sadly, John, it seems the Conservatives will. This week, talks of
electoral pacts and more and more ex-Conservatives fleeing the sinking ship and
defecting to Reform, have shown that the Conservatives are no longer serious
about getting back into government.

Let me be very clear, John - the Liberal Democrats will never stand down in
the face of Reform.
We need to show voters that feel abandoned by the Conservatives, and who
cannot support Reform, thatwe are the decent, positive alternative to their
divisive and hateful politics.

As you know, we are the only party defeating Reform in by-elections right now,
but this funding means we have to campaign harder than ever - particularly as
we face council elections across most of England, and parliamentary elections
in both Scotland and Wales, in the next few months.
We need to make sure we are ready to balance the campaign. Our teams are
working on everything we need - leaflets and direct mail, social media
campaigns, private polling, and much more -but we need to know how much we can
afford to fund.
