Let me be very clear, John - the Liberal Democrats will never stand down in the face of Reform.

We need to show voters that feel abandoned by the Conservatives, and who cannot support Reform, that we are the decent, positive alternative to their divisive and hateful politics.

As you know, we are the only party defeating Reform in by-elections right now, but this funding means we have to campaign harder than ever - particularly as we face council elections across most of England, and parliamentary elections in both Scotland and Wales, in the next few months.

We need to make sure we are ready to balance the campaign. Our teams are working on everything we need - leaflets and direct mail, social media campaigns, private polling, and much more - but we need to know how much we can afford to fund.

I know that this time of year is a difficult financial time for many, especially in the midst of the cost-of-living crisis. But John, this has never been more important - please donate to help us take on Reform at every level.
