As we approach Thanksgiving, a time when families across Tennessee gather t=
o share a meal and give thanks, it's heartbreaking to consider that more th=
an 700,000 of our neighbors across the state face food insecurity. This rea=
lity was painfully clear over the past month as SNAP benefits were frozen.=
=C2=A0
Hundreds of thousands of parents, seniors, and children across our state we=
re at risk of going hungry because elected leaders in Washington and Nashvi=
lle lack empathy and refused to consider the real life challenges of Tennes=
see=E2=80=99s working families.
This catastrophe was not an accident. It was a choice. While Republicans pr=
otect tax breaks for the wealthiest individuals and corporations, Tennessee=
families were left wondering how they'd put food on their table - not just=
at Thanksgiving, but every day.
Tennessee House Democrats are standing up for our neighbors. We are fightin=
g to ensure that no Tennessean goes hungry and that every family has the su=
pport they need to thrive. We believe that in a state as great as ours, no =
one should have to choose between paying bills and feeding their family.
