As we approach Thanksgiving, a time when families across Tennessee gather to share a meal and give thanks, it's heartbreaking to consider that more than 700,000 of our neighbors across the state face food insecurity. This reality was painfully clear over the past month as SNAP benefits were frozen.
Hundreds of thousands of parents, seniors, and children across our state were at risk of going hungry because elected leaders in Washington and Nashville lack empathy and refused to consider the real life challenges of Tennessee’s working families.
This catastrophe was not an accident. It was a choice. While Republicans protect tax breaks for the wealthiest individuals and corporations, Tennessee families were left wondering how they'd put food on their table - not just at Thanksgiving, but every day.
Tennessee House Democrats are standing up for our neighbors. We are fighting to ensure that no Tennessean goes hungry and that every family has the support they need to thrive. We believe that in a state as great as ours, no one should have to choose between paying bills and feeding their family.
But we need your help to keep up this fight.
