The presidential election in November is highly likely to have an unprecede=
nted amount of votes cast by mail due to coronavirus. But how states will m=
anage that -- and how they'll safeguard election integrity -- is still bein=
g determined.

The Trump campaign has moved quickly to mount legal challenges in states wh=
ere it sees too few protections of election integrity. That now includes Pe=
nnsylvania, where the Trump team and the Republican National Committee file=
d a lawsuit following its June primary.

Pennsylvania created "mail ballot drop boxes" for its June primary, which a=
llow people to turn in ballots at unmonitored mailboxes in pre-set location=
s. Normally, voters must mail their ballots in by a certain postmark date.

The Trump legal briefing argued that this "exponentially enhanced that frau=
dulent or otherwise ineligible ballots will be cast and counted" -- and was=
unfair for voters, too, since it wasn't utilized equally in all locations.

The Trump campaign has moved quickly to mount legal challenges in states where it sees too few protections of election integrity. That now includes Pennsylvania, where the Trump team and the Republican National Committee filed a lawsuit following its June primary.
Pennsylvania created "mail ballot drop boxes" for its June primary, which allow people to turn in ballots at unmonitored mailboxes in pre-set locations. Normally, voters must mail their ballots in by a certain postmark date.
The Trump legal briefing argued that this "exponentially enhanced that fraudulent or otherwise ineligible ballots will be cast and counted" -- and was unfair for voters, too, since it wasn't utilized equally in all locations.
Democrats continue to insist that President Trump is inventing concerns about fraud in vote-by-mail elections ... though even recent news proves otherwise <[link removed]> .

And examples like this from Detroit show why the distinction is important.
After a lawsuit (and again we emphasize: after a lawsuit!), the city finally removed nearly 2,500 deceased voters and 4,800 duplicate voter registrations from its voting roll. Combined, that's more than 7,000 ballots that could have been sent out, if Detroit were to automatically mail ballots to all voters on its previously uncorrected rolls.

The presidential election in November is highly likely to have an unprecedented amount of votes cast by mail due to coronavirus. But how states will manage that -- and how they'll safeguard election integrity -- is still being determined.
The Trump campaign has moved quickly to mount legal challenges in states where it sees too few protections of election integrity. That now includes Pennsylvania, where the Trump team and the Republican National Committee filed a lawsuit following its June primary.
Pennsylvania created "mail ballot drop boxes" for its June primary, which allow people to turn in ballots at unmonitored mailboxes in pre-set locations. Normally, voters must mail their ballots in by a certain postmark date.
The Trump legal briefing argued that this "exponentially enhanced that fraudulent or otherwise ineligible ballots will be cast and counted" -- and was unfair for voters, too, since it wasn't utilized equally in all locations.
Democrats continue to insist that President Trump is inventing concerns about fraud in vote-by-mail elections ... though even recent news proves otherwise <[link removed]> .

Ahead of the 2020 presidential election, some states want to automatically mail ballots to all registered ballots -- instead of allow voters to request them, as is normally done.
And examples like this from Detroit show why the distinction is important.
After a lawsuit (and again we emphasize: after a lawsuit!), the city finally removed nearly 2,500 deceased voters and 4,800 duplicate voter registrations from its voting roll. Combined, that's more than 7,000 ballots that could have been sent out, if Detroit were to automatically mail ballots to all voters on its previously uncorrected rolls.
