Trump campaign makes a legal move that could change everything in a swing state ahead of the 2020 election.

"The Trump reelection campaign sued Pennsylvania state and county elections officials Monday, saying mail ballot drop boxes were unconstitutional in the way they were used in the June 2 primary election and asking a federal court to bar them in November." (The Philadelphia Inquirer)

The presidential election in November is highly likely to have an unprecedented amount of votes cast by mail due to coronavirus. But how states will manage that -- and how they'll safeguard election integrity -- is still being determined.

The Trump campaign has moved quickly to mount legal challenges in states where it sees too few protections of election integrity. That now includes Pennsylvania, where the Trump team and the Republican National Committee filed a lawsuit following its June primary.

Pennsylvania created "mail ballot drop boxes" for its June primary, which allow people to turn in ballots at unmonitored mailboxes in pre-set locations. Normally, voters must mail their ballots in by a certain postmark date.

The Trump legal briefing argued that this "exponentially enhanced that fraudulent or otherwise ineligible ballots will be cast and counted" -- and was unfair for voters, too, since it wasn't utilized equally in all locations.

Democrats continue to insist that President Trump is inventing concerns about fraud in vote-by-mail elections ... though even recent news proves otherwise.

"What should Republicans do?"

"Republicans shouldn’t be running from this or avoiding the issue or playing at half measures. If the Democratic Party that had Jefferson and Jackson dinners for nearly a century wants to eliminate them from their history, Republicans should accept them with open arms. Be the party of the Founding. Wrap yourself in the flag. Go to Mount Rushmore and pump your fist while the fireworks go off. Wear red white and blue. Be proud." (The Federalist)

Democratic campaign alumni gave advice to Joe Biden's campaign from the New York Times.

Now Ben Domenech, publisher of The Federalist, wrote a post to all Republicans about what they should do this Independence Day week.

Corey Lewandowski says for the media (and polls!) it's like 2016 all over again.

"Just more than four months out from Election Day 2020, we are seeing a similar pattern. President Trump continues to draw huge ratings and massive enthusiasm, while Democratic presumptive nominee and 44-year career politician Joe Biden remains hidden away in his basement." (Real Clear Politics)

It's the story the media isn't talking about -- which is likely why they're getting it wrong.

President Trump continues to generate "massive enthusiasm" for his supporters. In contrast, Joe Biden has run a low-profile general election campaign that seems designed to keep him away from voters as much as possible.

Plus, the Democratic Party is facing an internal revolt right now, as the left-wing progressives -- no friend of Biden, but supporters of Bernie Sanders instead -- want to push out the "establishment" candidates.

After a lawsuit, Detroit finally removes almost 2,500 deceased voters and 4,800 duplicate voter registrations.

"City officials cleaned up the voter rolls after the Public Interest Legal Foundation, a government watchdog, filed suit against them in December. Nearly 2,500 deceased individuals and 4,800 duplicate registrations were removed from the voter rolls. The officials have also moved to review another 16,465 registrants who lacked actual dates of registration." (Washington Free Beacon)

Ahead of the 2020 presidential election, some states want to automatically mail ballots to all registered ballots -- instead of allow voters to request them, as is normally done.

And examples like this from Detroit show why the distinction is important.

After a lawsuit (and again we emphasize: after a lawsuit!), the city finally removed nearly 2,500 deceased voters and 4,800 duplicate voter registrations from its voting roll. Combined, that's more than 7,000 ballots that could have been sent out, if Detroit were to automatically mail ballots to all voters on its previously uncorrected rolls.
