Last month, Donald Trump took control of the local police in D.C. and
deployed the National Guard. Now, he’s escalating his plans to do the same
in other major cities across our country.

We’re watching in real time the politicization of our military to
consolidate power and intimidate political opponents. It’s dystopian and
dangerous.

Trump’s plans will undermine public safety and erode trust. And as
Delawareans know all too well from the year-long occupation of Wilmington
in the late 1960s, the painful scars can last for generations.

I won’t sit
back as Donald Trump abuses his power.

That’s why I joined as an original co-sponsor of the SUN Act, legislation
that ensures accountability and transparency anytime the National Guard is
deployed in our streets. It’s why I’m continuing to speak out and sound
the alarm. And it’s why I’m doing everything I can to help take back the
House next year and deliver a real check on this president.
