Dear Friend,
The campaign for law change is at a critical point. We need your help.
Your MP has made their opposition to the Leadbeater Bill clear. While that’s
frustrating, it’s not the end of the road. In fact, it’s an opportunity.
The Bill is just weeks away from its Third Reading in the House of Commons. If
MPs vote the right way, after that it moves to the House of Lords. That’s where you can make a powerful impact.
The House of Lords will likely treat the Bill as a conscience issue, subject to
a free vote. Peers are generally seen as more independently-minded , and many will take a principled, thoughtful approach , especially when they hear directly from members of the public.
This is what you can do right now: use our online template to write and post a
letter to three members of the House of Lords.
You’ll need 10 minutes and a printer.
A personal letter from you could shape how the House of Lords views this Bill.

To be as effective as possible, your letter should:
* Be personal, polite and persuasive, explaining why you support a change in
the law
* Share any personal experience of the current law not working
* End with a clear ask: share your current position on the Bill and to let me
know if you have any questions.
This is our moment to act, before the debate begins - and get ahead of the opposition
Most Members of the House of Lords don’t have dedicated staff, so they won’t
appreciate being inundated with identical emails. That’s why we’re encouraging
you to send individual, personalised letters - they’re far more likely to be read by the Peers themselves , and to genuinely influence their thinking.

Your MP may have said no. This is how you say: I’m not giving up.
Let’s make sure the Lords receive as many powerful, heartfelt letters as we can
manage - ones that show just how much public support there is for this change.
Thank you for staying one step ahead - and helping us move this vital law
forward.
Best wishes,
Thomas Davies
