Dear Friend,
On Friday 12 September, the House of Lords will debate the assisted dying Bill at its Second Reading. This is a pivotal moment. Members of the Lords could help move the Bill forward – or opponents could succeed in stalling or blocking it altogether.
We cannot let that happen. That’s why I’m asking you to write to the Lords today.
Many members of the Lords are undecided, and while many are supportive, they still need encouragement to know they’re doing the right thing. Hearing directly from people like you – whether you share your story or simply tell them why you support choice – could give them the confidence to speak up and stand by the House of Commons’s decision to back the Bill.
Reaching Peers works a little differently from contacting MPs. Most don’t have staff, which means a short heartfelt letter is the best way to reach them. But don’t worry – our online tool makes it simple. It will guide you through writing your message and make sure it gets to the right place.
Unlike MPs, members of the House of Lords don’t represent constituencies, so you’re free to write to more than one. Our tool suggests three at random, but you can reach out to as many as you like – all letters go to the same central address.
After years of campaigning and demonstrating the depth of public support, we’re closer than ever to change. But with the debate just weeks away, we must not lose momentum. Every single letter counts.
This is our moment. Let’s make sure it leads to lasting change.
Best wishes,
Sadie Kempner

P.S. The debate is fast approaching. Please take just a few minutes today to write to the House of Lords – your letter could make all the difference.
