From August 1-31, the Hurst Animal Services & Adoption Center is *waiving all adoption fees* to make it even easier to welcome a new furry family member. *Adoptions include:*
* Spaying/neutering
* Up-to-date vaccinations
* Microchipping
* Monthly tick preventative
* Heartworm/FELV/FIV testing
Donations also play a vital role in helping us provide essential medical care, food, and a safe environment for these animals as they wait for their forever homes. *We accept donations like:*
* HE liquid
* Laundry soap
* Dry/wet dog and cat food
* Cat/dog collars and toys
* New and lightly used blankets

NTE Long Term Closures
North Tarrant Express (NTE) Long-Term Closures
Please be aware of upcoming long-term road closures managed by North Tarrant Express (NTE).
Starting *Monday, August 25*, the entrance ramp to westbound SH 121/183 from Norwood Dr. will be closed. Traffic will be redirected to the previous entrance at Bedford Rd. This long-term, continuous closure is anticipated to be in place *for approximately 18 months*.
Starting *Tuesday, August 26, *all lanes of the westbound SH 121/183 frontage road between Norwood Dr. and Hurstview Dr. will be closed. This will be a continuous long-term closure anticipated to remain closed *for approximately 12 months*.
The pedestrian bridge will remain open for the time being. We will share updates when we receive information from NTE regarding the specific timing of any closure of the pedestrian bridge. Please pay attention to signage and drive carefully through these areas. For the latest closure information, click the button below.

1000 Books Before kindergarten
1000 Books Before Kindergarten
Join us for the 1000 Books Before Kindergarten Challenge! Details are below.
*Who*: Children from birth until they enter kindergarten
*What*: Read to your child any book...from home, library books, books read at storytime…any book counts! Read a book, once or a hundred times!
*When*: Anytime! However long it takes to get to 1000!
*Where*: Any place: storytime, caregiver’s home, grandparents
*How*: Tap the REGISTER [ [link removed] ]button below, scroll down to the "Challenges" section of the HEB Reading Challenges website, then tap to "Register an Individual or Family." Once set up, just log the number of books read to earn badges and prizes by logging books!

Sprinkler Smarts Water Conservation
Weekly Watering Advice
A misaligned or broken sprinkler can waste gallons of water and damage your lawn. Observe your sprinkler system in operation at least twice a year (once in spring, once in summer) to check for:
* Clogged or tilted heads
* Uneven coverage
* Leaks or low pressure

Labor Day Closure
Non-emergency city facilities are closed in observance of the Labor Day holiday on Monday, September 1, 2025. Chisholm Aquatics Center is open from 10 a.m.-6 p.m.
Trash and recycling are unaffected by this holiday closure. Emergency services will operate as normal.
