City Council Meeting August 26, 2025
Hurst City Council is meeting at City Hall on August 26 at 6:30 p.m. View the council meeting agenda online at hursttx.gov/agendas.
 Clear the Shelters
From August 1-31, the Hurst Animal Services & Adoption Center is waiving all adoption fees to make it even easier to welcome a new furry family member. Adoptions include:
- Spaying/neutering
- Up-to-date vaccinations
- Microchipping
- Monthly tick preventative
- Heartworm/FELV/FIV testing
Donations also play a vital role in helping us provide essential medical care, food, and a safe environment for these animals as they wait for their forever homes. We accept donations like:
- HE liquid
- Laundry soap
- Dry/wet dog and cat food
- Cat/dog collars and toys
- New and lightly used blankets

 North Tarrant Express (NTE) Long-Term Closures
Please be aware of upcoming long-term road closures managed by North Tarrant Express (NTE).
Starting Monday, August 25, the entrance ramp to westbound SH 121/183 from Norwood Dr. will be closed. Traffic will be redirected to the previous entrance at Bedford Rd. This long-term, continuous closure is anticipated to be in place for approximately 18 months.
Starting Tuesday, August 26, all lanes of the westbound SH 121/183 frontage road between Norwood Dr. and Hurstview Dr. will be closed. This will be a continuous long-term closure anticipated to remain closed for approximately 12 months.
The pedestrian bridge will remain open for the time being. We will share updates when we receive information from NTE regarding the specific timing of any closure of the pedestrian bridge. Please pay attention to signage and drive carefully through these areas. For the latest closure information, click the button below.
1000 Books Before Kindergarten
Join us for the 1000 Books Before Kindergarten Challenge! Details are below.
Who: Children from birth until they enter kindergarten What: Read to your child any book...from home, library books, books read at storytime…any book counts! Read a book, once or a hundred times! When: Anytime! However long it takes to get to 1000! Where: Any place: storytime, caregiver’s home, grandparents How: Tap the REGISTER button below, scroll down to the "Challenges" section of the HEB Reading Challenges website, then tap to "Register an Individual or Family." Once set up, just log the number of books read to earn badges and prizes by logging books!

 Fall Classes at the Hurst Recreation Center
Join us this fall at the Hurst Recreation Center for a variety of creative and engaging classes! We offer different programs for all ages, so there’s something for the whole family.  Weekly Watering Advice
A misaligned or broken sprinkler can waste gallons of water and damage your lawn. Observe your sprinkler system in operation at least twice a year (once in spring, once in summer) to check for:
- Clogged or tilted heads
- Uneven coverage
- Leaks or low pressure
Don’t forget to check the backup battery in your sprinkler controller annually. A power outage could reset it to default settings, disrupting your carefully planned watering schedule. For more information about our Irrigation Sprinkler Evaluation Program, click the button below.
 At the Drive-In Family Movie
August 30 | 2-4 p.m. Hurst Public Library: Program Rooms North & South 901 Precinct Line Rd. Hurst, TX 76053
Park the family in front of the big screen to watch a movie featuring your favorite animated cars. On August 26 and 28, you can create your own custom car at the Paint Your Ride events, from 4:30-7:30 p.m., or have a seat in the Library's comfy chairs! Free popcorn will be available.
 Labor Day Closure
Non-emergency city facilities are closed in observance of the Labor Day holiday on Monday, September 1, 2025. Chisholm Aquatics Center is open from 10 a.m.-6 p.m.
Trash and recycling are unaffected by this holiday closure. Emergency services will operate as normal.
 Hurst Aquatics Final Weekend
Celebrate the final weekend of the 2025 season with us at Chisholm Aquatics Center! We've enjoyed providing our community with a safe and fun space this summer, and we plan to finish strong with Labor Day weekend! Join us for one last swim on Monday, September 1, from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Plan a block party on October 7, 2025 for National Night Out! National Night Out is designed to:
- Emphasize community members getting to know each other and taking a vested interest in the security of their neighborhood
- Promote police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie
- Generate support and participation for local anti-crime programs
- Heighten crime and drug prevention awareness
