Officials said that two workers were killed, hours after an explosion rocked the Clairton Coke Works ([link removed]) . Ten others were injured by the blast, which is under investigation by county authorities.
“It just reminds people of how dangerous of a job that this is,” Sen. John Fetterman said.
Scott Buckiso, U.S. Steel's senior vice president and chief manufacturing officer, said at a press conference that the plant was "stable" as of 4 p.m. Monday ([link removed]) .
County health officials said air monitors did not detect elevated levels of pollution but residents within a mile of the plant were urged to stay inside as a precaution ([link removed]) .
