Officials said that two workers were killed, hours after an explosion rocked the Clairton Coke Works. Ten others were injured by the blast, which is under investigation by county authorities.


“It just reminds people of how dangerous of a job that this is,” Sen. John Fetterman said.


Scott Buckiso, U.S. Steel's senior vice president and chief manufacturing officer, said at a press conference that the plant was "stable" as of 4 p.m. Monday.


County health officials said air monitors did not detect elevated levels of pollution but residents within a mile of the plant were urged to stay inside as a precaution.
