*Traffic Advisory - Road Closure August 1*

The Oswego Police Department will be closing Douglas Road between Route 34 and Wolf Road on Friday, August 1, 2025, from 3:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. to accommodate funeral services and a procession honoring Firefighter/Paramedic Roberto Flores of the Oswego Fire Protection District, who recently passed from occupational cancer.

Funeral traffic will be allowed through the closure.

All businesses in Gerry Centennial Plaza and Oswego Commons will remain open and accessible, though traffic patterns may be adjusted. We recommend using Route 34 entrances and exits to avoid delays.

We appreciate the public’s patience and understanding as we support the family, friends, and colleagues of Firefighter/Paramedic Roberto Flores during this time of remembrance.

*Oswego Police Department to Undergo National Reaccreditation Assessment*

The Oswego Police Department will undergo an on-site assessment the week of August 4, 2025, as part of the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA) reaccreditation process. This voluntary program ensures the department meets national standards for law enforcement professionalism.

Community members are invited to provide feedback through the CALEA public comment portal, which is accessible via the Oswego Police Department’s website [ [link removed] ]. Comments can include commendations or concerns regarding the department’s services and community engagement.

The Oswego Police Department has proudly maintained CALEA accreditation since 2005.

*National Night Out*

Join the Oswego Police Department for National Night Out 2025 [ [link removed] ] on August 5, from 5 to 8 p.m. at Prairie Point Park, 4120 Plainfield Road in Oswego.

In partnership with the Oswegoland Park District and Starbucks, this free event offers family-friendly fun, including games, inflatables, face painting, giveaways, food, a splash pad, and more. Attendees can also explore police vehicles and meet local first responders.

National Night Out is a great opportunity to connect with neighbors and public safety personnel to help build a stronger, safer community. Bring the whole family for an evening of fun and community spirit.
