Gavin Newsom wants to be President so badly, he’s willing to waste $200 million of taxpayer money on a special election in California—just to tilt the playing field further in Democrats’ favor.
Newsom is threatening to override California’s independent redistricting commission through a special election and allow California’s legislature to gerrymander our congressional districts. His ploy would overturn the 2010 Voters First Act, which gave the nonpartisan redistricting commission sole authority over drawing district lines. That measure passed by 20 points.
Let’s be clear: California’s congressional map is already rigged for Democrats. Republicans hold only 9 of 52 seats, despite winning 38% of the statewide vote. Newsom plan would eliminate even more GOP seats.
Newsom knows the truth—Americans are pleased with President Trump’s leadership: a secure border, falling inflation, a booming stock market, and the passage of the Big Beautiful Bill. That’s why House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries is scheming with California House Democrats to gerrymander their way back into power.
Radical Democrats can’t win on policy, so they’re trying to rig the system. We can’t let them.
