Recently, we saw a federal appeals court undermine one of our most powerful civil rights laws: the Voting Rights Act. They ruled that only the federal government, not private citizens, can sue to stop voter discrimination.

But here’s the truth: Some of the most important voting rights cases in history came from ordinary people —community leaders, grassroots organizers, neighbors standing up for each other.

If this ruling stands, that could be lost.

The Native American tribes challenging this decision are preparing to take it to the Supreme Court. If they do, we need to be ready.
