John,
Now, more than ever, I can’t stop thinking about what democracy means and how fragile it is.
Recently, we saw a federal appeals court undermine one of our most powerful civil rights laws: the Voting Rights Act. They ruled that only the federal government, not private citizens, can sue to stop voter discrimination.
But here’s the truth: Some of the most important voting rights cases in history came from ordinary people—community leaders, grassroots organizers, neighbors standing up for each other.
If this ruling stands, that could be lost.
The Native American tribes challenging this decision are preparing to take it to the Supreme Court. If they do, we need to be ready.
This isn’t just about the law, it’s about our values, our history, and our future. Will you make a donation today to support our work to defend voting rights?

My family came to this country fleeing a regime where people couldn’t choose their leaders.
That’s why I do this work to ensure that democracy prevails and why I’ll never stop standing up for the right to vote—and for the people who depend on it.
Thank you for being in this with me.
Steve
