Dear
Friend,
As the father of a daughter with drug-resistant epilepsy, I’m beyond grateful for your support of CURE Epilepsy, and I know that you are committed to creating a seizure-free world. That’s why – in case you haven’t seen it – I wanted to forward you my daughter’s email below.
When Channing was 10, she had her second seizure, and the ER doc told us she’d likely grow out of it. We clung to those words while suffering through debilitating seizures year after year, until eventually, at 14, she was diagnosed with lifelong, refractory juvenile myoclonic epilepsy.
I can still see the look on Channing’s face as we received the news from her doctor, as Channing processed the realization that her dreams and aspirations had been dashed, and all the work she’d put towards them had been for nothing. It was heartbreaking.
She’s since created new goals. She wants to give back to the epilepsy community and help further the search for a cure, and I couldn’t be more proud of her. But while she somehow finds the strength to thrive at work, every day is still a struggle to overcome seizures and side effects from all the meds. I dream of a time when she’s healthy and independent, and day after day isn’t lost to a disorder that, with enough support, can be defeated. ([link removed])
I want a cure for my daughter and the other 1.5 million Americans who don’t have seizure control. It’s the only real hope for changing the future for Channing and for generations to come.
CURE Epilepsy is leading the charge with groundbreaking research, but that research is only possible through support from people like you. Your gift will bring us closer to the day my daughter — and millions like her — can live free from seizures. ([link removed])

Subject: Your Support Can Find a Cure
[link removed]
Dear
Friend,
My name is Channing Seideman, and it’s been an honor to work with CURE Epilepsy as part of their Community Enrichment Program. Before epilepsy entered my life, like any kid, I had big dreams. I was set on becoming a doctor and an Olympic equestrian. Then, at the age of 10, after having two seizures, I was diagnosed with epilepsy.
For years my family and I held out hope. But that hope was crushed after a VEEG revealed seizure activity consistent with life-long juvenile myoclonic epilepsy. And my world was turned upside down.
Now, 22 years later, I have a medication cocktail of 4 different anti-seizure medications and a VNS, and I still have not been able to find seizure control. But, through research there is hope, and that is exactly what CURE Epilepsy has given me. As the leading organization worldwide in advancing breakthrough epilepsy research, CURE Epilepsy is laser-focused on finding answers for the millions of people just like me.
CURE Epilepsy currently has more than 40 active research projects and has funded over $2 million in new grants. Every discovery brings us closer to a seizure-free future, and none of this progress is possible without the generosity of donors like you.
Today, your support can help accelerate the search for a cure ([link removed]) . Your generosity fuels innovative research bringing us closer to answers, to breakthroughs, and to a cure.
With gratitude,
Channing Seideman
