Take action for refugees.Dear John,

Today, there are more than 70 million displaced people worldwide, 25.9 million
of whom are refugees. Of that number, more than 1.44 million refugees will be in
urgent need of resettlement in 2020, according to the UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR).

Throughout our history, the U.S. has welcomed refugees, setting an average
annual refugee admissions goal of 95,000. This year, however, the administration
set the lowest admissions goal in the history of the U.S. resettlement program,
just 30,000 people, and we are unlikely to meet that goal.

The United States has the capacity to welcome thousands more refugees and their
families year. That’s why we need to speak out.

Tell your Member of Congress to support higher refugee admissions.

Despite the administration’s increasingly restrictive refugee and asylum
policies, HIAS is as dedicated as ever to and helping refugees find welcome,
safety, and freedom in the United States.

But our work helping refugees escape danger and violence depends on the
assistance of people like you.

Add your name now to tell Congress that our country should continue to welcome
refugees.
