In the United States, all doctors take the Hippocratic Oath, which starts with a fundamental promise to do no harm. Now, in the very same country, our president is telling doctors and hospitals to let us die--rather than provide lifesaving abortions. We won't stand for this. Will you? The Emergency Medical Treatment and Active Labor Act (EMTALA) is a law that protects pregnant people in every state and every zipcode, ensuring that they will receive lifesaving care in an emergency--and yes, that includes abortion. Trump's attacks on abortion won't change the need for lifesaving care, just the ability to get it. We cannot let that happen.

We've seen the consequences of total abortion bans--people airlifted out of Idaho, mothers dying in Georgia because of confusion around the law, pregnant Texans afraid for their lives. Gutting federal protections, like the Trump administration is trying to do with EMTALA, does nothing but risk lives and strip people of their basic rights.
This goes beyond the right to abortion, attacking EMTALA attacks our right to basic life-saving emergency health care and puts politics over people's lives. This is ridiculous and morally wrong. We deserve autonomy over our bodies, our choices, and our futures. Our trusted providers deserve the right to follow their oath, their judgement, and practice the lifesaving procedures they've dedicated their lives to training for--without politics getting in the way.
