The Emergency Medical Treatment and Active Labor Act (EMTALA) is a law that protects pregnant people in every state and every zip code, ensuring that they will receive lifesaving care in an emergency—and yes, that includes abortion. We've seen the consequences of total abortion bans—people airlifted out of Idaho, mothers dying in Georgia because of confusion around the law, pregnant Texans afraid for their lives.
