Breaking: Trump Is Selling the Arctic
Imagine selling off majestic landscapes for pennies while wildlife lose their habitat and families pay the price. That’s what Trump wants -- to sell the Western Arctic to his oil executive buddies. Yesterday, the Department of the Interior announced a plan to revoke a rule limiting oil and gas development in the Western Arctic, the largest contiguous area of public lands in the entire United States. These lands are home to caribou, polar bears, unique wetland ecosystems, and Indigenous communities, and they must be protected. We will not let this happen without a fight.

Stop Trump's Big Bad Budget Bill
Last month, House Republicans voted to advance Trump's dangerous budget bill filled with polluter handouts. But our movement’s grassroots organizing helped keep their plan to sell off 500,000 acres of public lands out of the bill. We're up against a lot, but this shows that public pressure can work. With the legislation now in the Senate, we have a critical opportunity to keep pushing back against some of the worst parts of the bill. Republicans are divided, leaving us a key chance to peel off votes and protect clean energy, climate action, health care, and more.

Learn How to Identify Fossil Fuel Industry Narratives
Our third workshop in the "Tapping Into Your Story" training series is this Thursday, June 5. Join us to look at the narratives created and shared by the fossil fuel industry -- like the conspiracy that climate change is a hoax or that fossil fuels are the only energy source needed for our future. We’ll go through examples of how these corporations have pushed their stories into every aspect of our lives and then explore ways we can counter these messages.
RSVP to learn how devious the fossil fuel industry really is, and how you can combat their disinformation and misinformation campaign.

Donate to Protect Our National Parks and Other Public Lands
With your help, we are fighting Trump's bad budget bill with everything we’ve got. As currently written, this budget slashes funding for the National Park Service, threatening Americans' ability to enjoy public lands and museums. It promotes dirty energy, advances the expansion of harmful mining activities, and guts environmental justice initiatives.
Help us fight back against the worst parts of this bill and support all of our efforts to protect public land by making a donation today.

Sierra Club and Partners Sue Trump Admin Over EV Funding Freeze
Last month, the Sierra Club and a coalition of nonprofits joined 16 states and the District of Columbia in a lawsuit against the Trump administration for its freeze in funding for a nationwide electric vehicle charging network. The administration was acting on “political whim,” which is not an adequate reason to freeze billions of dollars of funding that are mandated to go to the states.

This Ecologist Is Rewriting the Story of California Landscapes
Over the past 15 years, Rick Lanman has published numerous papers on the historical ecology of California. His findings have often upended long-held views about the state's natural history, like the myth that beavers were never native to the Sierra Nevada and central California's Coast Ranges.
Learn more about how this former cancer researcher is using his analytics skills to solve the mystery of where San Francisco's red wood forests stood before European settlement.
