If you have a loved one with severe autism, we see you. We know the
immense challenges that come with caring for someone with profound
autism - challenges many of us at Children's Health
Defense face every day in our own families.




On April 16, during his first official press conference as Secretary
of Health and Human Services, Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. announced that a
comprehensive investigation into the autism epidemic is underway,
with results expected by September. For many families, this
long-awaited announcement brought hope and validation.




But instead of being met with understanding, Secretary
Kennedy's remarks about profound autism were quickly criticized
by some media voices and public officials, including Senator
Elizabeth Warren. These responses dismissed the harsh realities of
profound autism, mischaracterizing Kennedy's comments and
minimizing the experiences of thousands of families across the
country.
