Dear Michael,
In March, our client Ilia Chernov won his asylum case in a Louisiana immigration court.
But as of now—two months after winning asylum—he's still sitting in immigration detention, at the notorious Winn Correctional Center, facing abuse and discrimination.
We need your help to share his story, and to highlight the reality of detention.

It is because of your support that we are able to reach detained clients like Ilia and provide free legal services for immigrants who would otherwise navigate our complicated immigration system without a lawyer.
In his case, Ilia entered the U.S. in the way the government requested, via an appointment made through the CBP One app. He won asylum due to the extreme danger he faces in Russia as a political dissident. He has no criminal record and came to the U.S. the “right” way. Ilia has an open-and-shut asylum case, yet he’s been in detention, funded by taxpayer dollars, for almost a year.
Ilia is one of many who are being unjustly detained. There are countless others who are being stripped of due process and swept up in inhumane raids.
Sincerely,
Bekah Wolf
