John, okay, there has been SO much going on these past few weeks. The Trump admin & GOP have stayed on their insane run of absurd, unlawful, and chaotic moves. Speaking of absurd, one thing you may have missed that really irked Mary Gay this week was Trump’s firing of the Librarian of Congress, the first woman and first Black American to ever head the Library. That’s ALWAYS been an apolitical job, the LoC usually serves for decades — there’ve only been 14 in America since the role was created!

As Mary Gay says, Trump is simply continuing his quest to dumb down America with every move. Nothing is sacred or safe from Trump’s corruption. The good news is we’ve got actual badasses like Mary Gay in Congress who aren’t letting it stop them from their job: being a voice for the people. (I’m so proud).

There’s more where that came from. Take a look at what’s been going on and what Mary Gay has had to say about it…
Last week, the House GOP took up Trump’s ridiculous quest to rename the Gulf of Mexico as the Gulf of America. Yeah, this is what they’re focusing on while quietly trying to take away Medicaid/SNAP funding.
Mary Gay spoke on the floor to call out the stupidity of this legislation and remind her colleagues across the aisle of their job to show up for the American people. Read more about what she had to say here. [[link removed]]

“It’s easy to mock this legislation because it’s so inane and embarrassing. This may be the dumbest bill brought to the floor during the six years I’ve served in this Congress.”

Last week, Mary Gay met with Eastwick residents who traveled to D.C. to demand funding for flood solutions in PA. Mary Gay is fighting hard in Congress to get this addition into the upcoming budget for stormwater management projects — especially since it was already allocated by Congress once and should therefore be a guarantee, but her colleagues across the aisle simply won’t allow it. “It’s kind of basic civics. Congress makes the laws and funds the things that it makes laws about. … The president is supposed to carry out those laws. We’ve made requests for funding, but where the White House returns calls from Republican senators and members of Congress, they haven’t been so willing to do so on the Democrats’ side.

Mary Gay calls out House Republicans as they blocked Democrats from forcing votes on the Trump administration’s use of Signal. Mary Gay says the only reason for blocking this investigation is that they’re scared to be held accountable. But our national security is not something that should be taken lightly. "They're scared that the Secretary of Defense continues to use unsecure methods to discuss classified information. They're scared that the president's tariffs are wreaking economic havoc. And they're scared that this administration is deporting American citizens and others without due process. And they don't want to take votes to get information from the White House about all of these incidents because that's the real problem, they don't have to risk the wrath of the president if they were to do their job and take votes on getting answers and conducting oversight."

Following a Social Security rally in the city of Chester, Mary Gay fought back against privatizing the post office. This administration is destroying services, resources, and programs that Americans have built their futures on. But Mary Gay is doing everything she can to hold them accountable. "When you privatize a public service, you are no longer making it a public service. Someone's going to get a cut. It's certainly top of mind here in Delaware County, where private equity took over the major hospital system and gutted it for private profit, and now we're struggling to keep a hospital system up and running — similar concerns with respect to the post office."

And finally, some good news for PA-05! Mary Gay secured the funding to renovate the Lansdowne Theater — a beautiful community theater that has been closed since 1987! Mary Gay secured a $1.5 million Community Funding Project Grant to ensure the completion. Check out the progress here. [[link removed]]

It’s a weird, scary time right now, but I’m sleeping better at night knowing Mary Gay is in office, speaking her mind (literally) and fighting for us. I hope you are, too. If you want to help us do the work to support Mary Gay on the ground in PA while she fights Trump and the GOP in Congress, you can chip in here. [[link removed]]
