Happy May Day!

Dear John,

This May Day – also known as International Workers’ Day – we honor workers past and present who have taken up the global struggle to fight for a dignified livelihood for working class people. The legacy of this struggle has shaped the rights that many of us enjoy today and reminds us that lasting change is won through organizing and solidarity.

At Breach, we are proud to be a unionized workplace, but our commitment to the labor movement runs deeper than that. We believe that the fight for climate justice is inseparable from the fight for worker justice. To protect our planet and people, we must build power together. That’s why, alongside our fossil fuel resistance work, we are also committed to helping nonprofit workers unionize and gain important worker protections in their workplaces. We do this through our Organize Your Organization project ([link removed]) and via elected positions within our union, CWA Local 7901. Celebrate May Day with a donation ([link removed]) to support this important work on behalf of both our climate and working people everywhere.

Climate change is a crisis rooted in exploitation – of land, resources, and labor. The extractive systems that are destroying the environment are the same ones that treat workers as disposable. We must dismantle these systems and replace them with ones built on care, equity, and justice – both for workers and for the Earth.

A truly just transition away from fossil fuels must be shaped by and for working people. This can only happen through building a strong, united, working class movement. From workers demanding ([link removed]) the conditions they need to carry out their organization’s mission, to communities fighting to keep polluting industries out of their neighborhoods, the frontlines of labor and environmental justice are often one and the same. Now more than ever, the climate and labor movements must build power together to create the change we need for our survival and well-being.

In solidarity for climate and worker justice,

The Breach Team
